Named on the Greenlaw Parish War Memorial in Berwickshire as:

GEORGE SOMERVILLE, R.N.
George Somerville age 21 Ordinary Seaman (J64190) Royal Navy.
George was a farmer at Elwart Law, Greenlaw, Berwickshire when he enlisted in December 1916. He served on the battleship HMS Dreadnought from March to September 1917 but he was discharged from the navy due to illness in October 1917 and died of tuberculosis in a nursing home in Edinburgh.

Born 1897 in Carstairs, Lanarkshire. Son of William Somerville and of Rachel Alston (Stewart) Somerville (who died in Greenlaw a week after her son's death) of Westertown, Carstairs and of Eccles Tofts, Greenlaw
Died on 15 June 1918.
Burial place not known.
