Name: STOUT, GEORGE RONALD YORSTON

Date of Death: 30/4/1917
Age: 20
Additional Information: Son of Margaret Paterson Wingate Stout, of 11, Princes Gardens, Downhill, Glasgow, and the late George Stout.
Grave Reference: IV B 19
Cemetery: Lievin Communal Cemetery Extension.

And his brother:

Thomas Yorston Stout. National Probate Index states that he died on 22/10/1919 at Leeds. Occupation: shipbroker. His wife is named as Agnes Emily Mathieson or Stout of 8 Bellhaven Terrace, Kelvinside. His father: George Stout, ship broker, 121 Vincent Street.

RNVR service papers show that he enlisted as a sub-Lieutenant 13/12/1915. Promoted to Temp Lieutenant 13/12/1916. 13/12/1918 admitted to Haslar hospital with dysentry/enlarged spleen and invalided out 5 days later. Temporary Commission and appointment terminated 4/1/1919.

The transcription of the names on the memorial indicate that Thomas Yorston Stout served with the 8th Cameronians and died on 26/6/1915. This is probably George and Thomas' cousin, also a Thomas:
