Pte William Clemison, S/12503 Black Watch. Discharged for medical reasons 26/9/1918 (Silver War Badge). Died 19 September 1920 Pulmonary Tuberculosis. There are six Pension Ledgers on Ancestry but none give an indication for the reason for discharge. Thus it it not possible to forward as a non-commemoration.

John Grieve Liddle discharged August 1915 for medical reasons following two months in Haddington Hospital suffering from Scarlet Fever. Pte 7319, 8th Bn Royal Scots. He died on 22/6/1916 from Ulcerative Endocarditis (a rare condition that involves inflammation of the heart).

Apparently severe cases of scarlet fever can cause cardiac problems such as Endocarditis, but such a link was only properly explored later on in the 20th Century. As such his case could not go forward for consideration as a non-commemoration as such a link would only be supposition.

J Dougan is probably:

Name: DOUGAN, JOHN

Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Service Number: 16049
Regiment/Service: Royal Scots, 12th Bn
Date of Death: 25/9/1915

Memorial: Loos Memorial.

UK Soldiers Died in the Great War identifies place of recruitment as Peebles. The Tweeddale Roll of Honour identifies him as "Jack", although it gives the date of his death as 10 October 1915. There is no family connection to Peebles, rather he was a well known builder's labourer in the town.
