Just posted this on Aberdour, Fife
Able Seaman J Carscadden, Royal Naval Reserve Not yet identified from RN, RNR or Merchant Navy records nor CWGC. He may be Joseph Carscadden born about 1881 in Colessie, Fife (living in Hilton Farm, Beath, Fife in 1901 census as a ploughman) but not on the 1911 census so perhaps he was at sea in a civilian ship?
Can anyone find any record of his service anywhere? |

Paul - Can't help with any naval service records I'm afraid and the family name can be so easily mis-transcribed, but for what it's worth I think this might be your man (maybe, perhaps)
John McGlashan Carscadden, age 24 and a farm servant, died on 19 May 1918 at Merryhill, Charlestown, Dunfermline after suffering pulmonary tuberculosis for two years.
His parents were Andrew and Annie (McGlashan) the 1915 Valuation Roll and the Fife electoral roll of 1920 has them at Croftgary, Aberdour.
In 1901 at Dornoch Mill House in Crieff, Perthshire was the Carscadden family
(transcribed on Ancestry as)
Andrew Carsendten 26
Annie Carsendten 26
John Carsendten 6
Andrew Carsendten 3
Peter Carsendten 1 (died 1902)
He was born in 1894 in Crieff, Perthshire as John McGlashan.
Andrew Carscadden married Annie McGlashan in 1897 in Crieff.
1911 at Tulliallan, Fife - Andrew 36 Annie 36 Andrew 13 Annie 7 David 5 Mary 1
1911 at Muckhart, Perthshire - John 16. _________________ Ken |

His brother Andrew served as Private 20678 in the Royal Marine Light Infantry from June 1916 to April 1921 when he was discharged to Merryhill Farm, Charlestown. _________________ Ken |
