Cardonald Parish Church, 2155 Paisley Road West, Glasgow G52 3PF

The church was dedicated on 17th February 1889. It was modelled on the church which had just been built at Corrie. (Architect, P McGregor Chalmers.) The west aisle was added in 1899, the east aisle was added and the chancel extended in 1925; halls were built in 1940 and an additional suite of rooms linking church and halls and completing the present complex was added in 1960. The church was transferred from the Presbytery of Paisley in1929. www.cardonaldparishchurch.org/main

Named on a family grave in Annan, Dumfriesshire:

JOHN WOODMAN – age 25 – Flying Officer/Navigator (196974) Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
John was educated at Alan Glen's School in Glasgow and was commissioned from Flight Sergeant (1456539) in April 1945. He was promoted to F/O in October but was killed while onboard a Lockheed Ventura bomber in Iraq. The crew of four are buried together.
Born 1921 in Pollokshields, Glasgow. Son of George and Winifred (Smith) Woodman of 148 Hatton Gardens, Crookston, Glasgow S.W.2.
Both died in Annan. Winifred in 1951 and George in 1962.
Died on Service on 25 April 1946 and buried in Habbaniya War Cemetery, Iraq.
Named on the Glasgow Roll of Honour and on the Alan Glen's School Roll of Honour.
