From ‘The Scotsman’ - Friday, 1st April 1921, page 4

R.A.M.C. WAR MEMORIAL - REPLICA FOR EDINBURGH

Important decisions have now been taken in regard to the memorial which is to commemorate the officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of the Royal Army Medical Corps who were killed in action or laid down their lives otherwise during the Great War.

The amount contributed to the memorial fund is £19,328, but £1,566 has been earmarked by donors for families and dependants of the fallen, and this sum will be allocated for administration to the R.A.M.C. Regular and Auxiliary Funds in proportions to be determined by the General Committee
The memorial itself will be of an unique character. After consultation with representative officers and other ranks of all branches of the Corps, and with the cordial and generous consent of the Dean and Chapter, the General Committee have resolved to erect a tablet in Westminster Abbey in a suitable position on the wall near to the grave of the Unknown Warrior and also to place in the Chapter House of the Abbey for permanent keeping a golden book containing the names of all the members of the Corps whose services and sacrifices the memorial is designed to commemorate. At the same time replicas of the tablet will be presented to Edinburgh and Dublin to be placed in positions chosen by the city authorities
The provision of the memorial in these forms will be the first charge on the unallocated portion of the memorial fund and the balance which probably will be not less than £10,000, will be devoted to the fund now being raised for the restoration of certain portions of Westminster Abbey.

Notwithstanding the newspaper article the original in Westminster Abbey is actually a Marble Tablet (WMR 83003). The Golden Book is 85005.

This is a link to an image from the Abbey-
