Hamilton West Parish Church, Peacock Cross, Burnbank Road, Hamilton ML3 0DA
OS Grid Ref: NS 713559
The church was originally founded in 1874 as the Burnbank Mission Station of St John’s Free Church. Having been raised to full status in 1875, the church was rebuilt in 1880 and the Glasgow architect John Hutchison was commissioned. The result is the present building, whose design exhibits many features in the 13th-century Gothic style. The interior has one of the best examples in Scotland of a wooden hammer beam roof. The organ was built by Hill & Son of London 1902 and is still in use today.
