Located atop a small but steep hill to the west of the A708, Yarrow. Steps and a handrail are provided but car parking is problematical.

The famous "Warriors Rest".
UKNIWM Ref: 46432
OS map ref: NT355275

The location of this memorial has always baffled me.
I would really like to know why it was located here.
For those that don't know the area, the memorial is situated up a very steep bank, on a dangerous bend in the road and is virtually impossible to park near.

Apart from its location, I really do like it - it's almost "Highland" in its construction and ruggedness.

Loth in Sutherland used to be the same. It's location for 80 years was right next to the main Invernes - Wick trunk road with parking several hundred yards along the road. For 50 of those years I'm sure it was fine. Not a lot of traffic and a magnificent view over the parish.
Recently though you were taking your life in your hands to get to it. There was no pavement and it was near a corner. It has been moved to the local churchyard. A lot safer to visit but it's location is not half as good.
