The Scottish Naval & Military Veterans' Residence - ROSENDAEL , 3 Victoria Road, BROUGHTY FERRY ,ANGUS .

The dwellighouse was donated by Dundee Jute Baron , John Normansell Kyd in Memory of 2nd Lieutenant FRANK PROCTOR KYD, East Surrey Regiment att 11th Bn the Royal Warwickshire Regiment killed in action 18 August 1916 and buried in Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuile , France . This young officer's grave is in the Somme .

The Kyd family left their mansion in Broughty Ferry and an endowment of £10,000 to Scottish Veterans' Residences to run a home for Veteran Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen following the death of their son killed in action .

The Rosendael residence was opened officially on 3 May 1933 by the Lord Provost of Dundee

This Residence was officially opened by the Lord Provost of Dundee but in attendance was the Chairman , Lt Col C L Addison-Smith formerly Seaforth Highlanders and Rear Admiral the Hon W S Leveson -Gower,CB,DSO , Commanding Officer , Coast of Scotland and Lt Col Sir Archibald R Cameron, KCB,CMG , General Officer Commanding in Chief , Scottish Command
