The WW2 plaques have been affixed to the rear of the columns on the WW1 Memorial Gates;

This Thornton man was in a South African armoured unit:

MOYES, R
Nationality: South African
Rank: Sergeant
Regiment/Service: Special Service Battalion, S.A. Forces
Age: 37
Date of Death: 24/04/1945
Service No: SR/597927V
Additional information: Son of George and Catherine Moyes, of Thornton, Fife.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: VI, C, 3.
Cemetery: CASTIGLIONE SOUTH AFRICAN CEMETERY

On 5 May 1941 LSgt Adam Tait SNOWDEN (2754776) died of his wounds in Palestine although there is no evidence to date of how his wounds were incurred. The Summer 1939 edition of the RAPC Journal notes that a Pte A Snowden had transferred into the RAPC on the 1 May 1939 from the 2nd Bn The Black Watch
