WMR 85050

The Irvine Herald dated Friday 16 November 1951 tells us of a Tablet in Irvine Fullarton Parish Church to those connected with the Halfway District who lost their lives in WW1 and WW2. WW2 memorial was inserted into the side of WW1 memorial so appears to be one combined memorial.

This Church is now known as Fullarton Connexions.

The dedication wording is unknown but the names are-

James McAdam
James McDowell
James G Murray
Joseph Murray
James Maxwell
James Moore
William Kilmarnock
James Linton

Died 06/07/1944
Aged 30
Son of Hugh and Margaret McDowell, of Irvine, Ayrshire; husband of Cpl. Marion White McDowell, W.A.A.F. who died on active service 26th November, 1943.

MARION WHITE McDOWELL, Corporal, 2040839, Women's Auxiliary Air Force
Died 26/11/1943
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elliot, of Irvine; wife of Gdsmn. James Alexander McDowell, Scots Guards, killed in action in Italy, 6th July, 1944.
Buried at IRVINE OLD PARISH CHURCHYARD
