JIm

Do you think a name has been removed between Leith D. Kings Own Scottish Borderers and Lowe C.M. Scottish Horse?

Regards

Why is George Morrison Low's name missing from the Skene Memorial.
He was the eldest son of Mr George Low, Burnside, Skene.
You would think that would mean his name would appear on the memorial in the lovely picture and not just a blank trench. Why?
I have a copy of the Skene Memorial Book published in 1925 his details are included with a photo.

The only time I have seen a name removed from a memorial like this, it turned out that the individual had not died but had been held prisoner in some remote part and he had turned up alive shortly after the memorial was unveiled. Finding his death certificate might help solve the problem.

In the book written in 1925 it states He died at No 55 Casualty Clearing Station. The mystery deepens.

Anne

George M Low is there, under the " blank trench" you mention which should be GM Low and not CM Lowe as transcribed.

Although he is shown as Scottish Horse this was his original unit. He later, and at his death, served with The Royal Highlanders (Black Watch)
