This man can go forward are he died in service.

I have just received his service record and it shows he was to relinquish
his commission on 01.04.20 and he died just before that.

This is very interesting to us at the Without Fear - Bo'ness War Memorial project. We have included Carl in our research but did not pick up that he was still in service. We were too busy wondering if his fatal condition was a legacy of his time in the trenches and trying to make a link, which we thought was a long-shot.

We submitted more on Carl to the University of Glasgow WW1 RoH, as he was a graduate.

See https://www.universitystory.gla.ac.uk/ww1-biography/?id=1655 including an image of Carl. He is buried in Bo'ness Cemetery alongside his family members where he is commemorated on the large family headstone.

His brother Rev. William White Anderson also appears on UoG WW1 roll and was a fascinating character in his own right -https://www.universitystory.gla.ac.uk/ww1-biography/?id=480

More info on both men in our book Without Fear - The World War I stories of the men on the Bo’ness War Memorial - now available!
