Thomas was recorded at wedding of his son William to Helen Ross on 30 April 1925 so this Thomas isn't the husband of Elizabeth Horne. Otherwise he would have been noted as deceased on the marriage cert which I have a copy of.

Sorry Bill, can you explain please?

The Thomas Donaldson on the memorial died in the first world war and the suggested man (served on HMS Drifter) died in 1916, so even if they are not one and the same, neither would have been alive in 1925. So which Thomas are you referring to? I also will meet with someone from Prestonpans soon so may be able to clarify if I can get a bit more info.

Both of the men below are listed on a Return of Deaths at Scotlandspeople. They drowned 7 miles SSE of May Island in the Firth of Forth when the "Thrive" blew-up after catching a mine in her nets. Both men are shown as born in Cockenzie and their address is shown below.
