PERTHSHIRE ADVERTISER: 08.11.1916
A VERY BRAVE OFFICER
On Sunday evening a handsome memorial brass tablet to the memory of Major J. L. Mitchell was dedicated in Pitlochry Established Church by the Rev. D. M. Donald, B.D. The tablet bears the following inscription:- "Erected by the officers, non-commissioned officers and men of the 112th Battery Royal Field Artillery in loving memory of their officer, Major James Lawson Mitchell, killed in action at Ypres, 16th March, 1916, and buried in Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, Belgium, aged 32 years. A very brave soldier and devoted to duty. Only son of Hugh Mitchell, solicitor, Pitlochry". |
