Peebles Silver Band WW1 Memorial.

Located in the Peebles Band room which is the upper room in the old town hall on the High Street in Peebles.

My thanks to Mark Douglas and Ruth Holmes for the photo and information.

Dumfries & Galloway Standard of 14/8/1918 page 3.

Mr Alexander Brockie of 10 Church St. Maxwelltown received official intimation on Saturday that his youngest son Private John Brockie, Royal Scots has died in a Casualty Clearing Station in France.........
(This is Pte. 353401 1/9th Royal Scots DoD 6/8/1918. Born Peebles)
Mr Brockie's eldest son Private James Brockie, Royal Scots died at Edinburgh Castle in November 1917.
(This is Pte. 48757 3rd Royal Scots DoD 7/11/1917 - CWG Peebles Cemetery )
Another son Private Willie Brockie, Royal Flying Corps has been in the army for 14 years having served 11 years in India and in France since the beginning of the war. He has been wounded twice, in March 1915 and again in February 1916. (Pte.610 2nd Royal Highlanders. Pte 121957 RFC)
Private Alexander Brockie, another son serving with the Royal Scots, was a Territorial at Peebles and has been in France since the beginning of the war. He was wounded in 1914 at Mons. (Possibly Pte.335043 8th Royal Scots)
