"Private William Anderson 1-4th Gordon Highlanders, son of Mr & Mrs Anderson, 5 Wallfield Place, Aberdeen, has been killed at the front by a sniper, death having been instantaneous. Private Anderson, before the outbreak of the war, was a postman at Glass, Aberdeenshire, for two years. A brother, Alexander Anderson, is serving in the 2-4th Gordon Highlanders." |

He appears to be recorded by the Battalion in the medal roll as Robert, as does dundee in their city Roll of Honour where his address is given as 1 Hunter Street. |

"Lance-Corporal John F. Adams, Signal Section, 1-4th Gordon Highlanders, was killed in action in France on June 17. Lance-Corporal Adams, who was only 19 years of age, was the eldest son of Mrs Adams, 43 Park Street, Aberdeen. Previous to the outbreak of the war he was a chemist with Messrs W. Paterson and Sons, Spring Gardens, Aberdeen. Lance-Corporal Adams was killed by a shell bursting in the trench in which he was on duty." |

Edward Addison, b.14 Dec 1891 at 200 Gallowgate, the 2nd son of John Addison (1857-1922) and wife Margaret Edward (1855-1921). There is a death notice in the P&J for April of 1918.
Grandson of Alexander Addison and his wife Mary Cook
and of Simpson Edward and his wife Elizabeth Wilson.
Brother of David Davidson Edward Addison (1888-1965) husband of Elizabeth Strachan Brown Garrie, and brother of Violet Addison (1894-1956) wife of Henry MacDonald.
Pvt Edward Addsion was not married, prior to WW1 he worked in an Iron Foundry according to the 1911 Census. |
