(Glasgow herald 22nd June 1915)
"Private Alexander Raeper, 3rd Gordon Highlanders, son of Mr Raeper, 3 Gladstone Place, Turriff, has died at Sennelager, Germany, where he had been a prisoner since the battle on Mons. He was 20 years of age, and prior to going on service was an apprentice painter in Turriff. He died after a prolonged illness, and according to a letter from a member of the R.A.M.C. had been well treated in hospital."
