Also named on the Tynron Parish War Memorial in Dumfriesshire as:

Robert Turner – age 26 – Private (203899) 5th/6th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)
Robert was resident in Tynron when he enlisted in Dumfries.
Born 1891 in Inverchaolain, Argyllshire. Son of Neil and Jane or Jean (Moffat) Turner of Toward Old House, Dunoon and of Burgh Depot, Hamilton Street, Dunoon, Argyll.
Missing in Action on 20 May 1917 and named on the Arras Memorial, France.
Also named on the Tynron Parish Church memorial now in Tynron Village Hall.

His younger brother, Driver Donald Turner (T4/061635) Army Service Corps was awarded a Croix de Guerre in 1918 “for heroic services given on 25th March in keeping up supply of ammunition in the heat of the battle, and by contributing to save valuable material.”

SERGT. ALEXANDER W. LILLICO.
Alexander William Lillico – age 26 – Sergeant (254011) 1/7th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
Alexander had served his apprenticeship in Kelso, Roxburghshire and was a compositor/printer, living at McArthur Street in Dunoon when he enlisted there in August 1914. He had previously spent 4 years in the Territorial 4th King's Own Scottish Borderers. He landed in France as Corporal (1774) with the 1/8th (Argyllshire) Battalion in May 1915 but became ill and was evacuated to hospital in Blackpool in September. He was posted to the 1/6th Battalion in France in May 1916 and promoted to Sergeant (7978) in September. He returned to the UK for officer training in January 1917 but was posted back to France in September where he joined the 1/7th Battalion. Alexander was killed two months later.
Born 1891 in Hawick, Roxburghshire. Son of Mary Helen Lillico of 14 Cross Street and of 10 Woodmarket, Kelso.
Missing in Action on 21 November 1917 and named on the Cambrai Memorial, Louverval, France.

HMS Gould was sunk on 1st march 1944 during a battle in the Mid-Atlantic with U-358. Only 14 of her crew survived. The submarine was sunk soon after by HMS Affleck
