This week the Shetland Isles Council are to add a name to this Great War memorial of

CORPORAL 40169 ALFRED LEASK , 10th Bn Cameronians ( Scottish Rifles ) formerly 1587 Royal Scots , aged 19 years

death date of 16th September 1916

son of Elspeth Leask , 21 George Street, LEITH, EDINBURGH

grave no 11 A 40 - Dartmoor Cemetery , Becordel -Becourt , Somme France

Entry on Bigton War Memorial has :

ALFRED LEASK , Cpl, Sco RIF.,



Additional info on the SNWM records birth : LERWICK

Info from Capt Ronnie Leask MBE whose sister did all the ground work and liaised with the helpful Shetland Council staff to get this brave soldiers name added .
