Private A.Gourlay S/N 4360 1st/7th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders died 15 Nov 1916, aged 19.

Son of Robert Gourlay 52 Hill Street, Alloa

Buried at Mailly Wood Cemetery, France - Section I, Row K, Grave 16

Pte.William Cassidy S/275565 1/7th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders died on 23 April 1917 and is buried at Roeux British Cemetery, Sp.M. B7

Born in Alloa on 13 Aug 1891 to parents Alexander Cassidy and Margaret Cassidy ms Reid, residing at 10 Park Lane, Alloa where they were informed of his death.

Private William Harrison S/N 7220 2nd Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who embarked from Southampton bound for France on 10 Aug 1914. He was wounded by shrapnel at Bussy, France on 25 Aug 1914 and died 26 Aug 1914.
Commemorated on La Ferte Memorial, Stone No. 27A.
He was born 6 Dec 1881 at Alloa to parents Herbert Harrison and Janet Paterson, residents of Izatt Street, Alloa.

Although not listed on the Alloa War Memorial, David Anderson was born on 5 March 1897 at Hill Street, Alloa to parents George Anderson and Agnes Anderson ms Blair.

The family emigrated to Canada and David enlisted with 1st Central Ontario Regiment, 95th Bn. C Coy. serving as Pte. Davie Anderson 201528, on 11 November 1915.

He landed in England on 8 June 1916 on board SS Olympic and was transferred to 3rd Bn. Canadian Infantry on 21 Sept 1916. Served in the field from 27 Sept 1916 until he was killed in action on 3 May 1917 at Vimy.

Husband of Isabella White ms Taylor, 19 North Castle Street, Alloa.

Buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery No.6 in Plot 1; Row B; Grave 17A

Inscription on headstone: "FROM MEMORY 'S PAGE TIME CANNOT BLOT THESE LITTLE WORDS FORGET ME NOT"

974468 Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, Aircraftman 1st Class, John Hodge Masterton
John was born in 1917 at Alloa to parents James Masterton and Elizabeth Masterton ms Hodge.
He was lost at sea on 5 July 1941 when onboard "SS Anselm" which was torpedoed and sank in mid-Atlantic by German submarine U- 96.
Commemorated at Runnymede Memorial, Panel 57.

William Keen Dick
I don`t think he is listed on the Alloa War Memorial.

He was born in Alloa in 1879 to parents John Dick and Margaret Dick ms Keen.
Living at 54 Castle Street in 1891.

William served as Private 44219, 2nd Bn. South Wales Borderers and died of wounds on 1 July 1917 at No 12 Casualty Clearing Station.

He was buried at
Mendinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium - Plot 2; Row E; Grave 45

Inscription: DEEPLY MOURNED. By wife and 4 children

He was survived by wife Jane Ann Dick ms McLaren and 4 children of 107 Jefferson Street, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
