A little more on William McKillops from the Wigtownshire Free Press (24/5/1917). "Official notice has been received by Mr and Mrs McKillops, Craichmore, Leswalt, that their son L-Corpl W McKillops, Gordon Highlanders, died from injuries received while performing his duties with the Light Railway Operating Coy, to which he had been attached for some time. Lance-Corporal McKillops, who had been in France since June 1915, passed through some of the fiercest engagements experienced on the Western front. Prior to enlisting, he was in the employment of the PP & W Joint Railway Co at Dunragit Station." The article carries a photograph of L-C McKillops.
