Wigtownshire Free Press (23/8/1918): Mrs McCarlie, Lochnaw, has received official notice of the death in action, on 20th July, of her husband, Private Alexander McCarlie, Seaforth Highlanders. Pte McCarlie, who enlisted in 1916, had been fourteen month on active service in France. Prior to joining the Army, the deceased, who leave a widow and four young children to mourn his loss, was in the employment of Sir Andrew N Agnew, Lochnaw.

Wigtownshire Free Post (30/8/1917): Mrs George Espie, Kirminnoch, Ervie, Has received official notice that her husband. Private G Sproat Espie, RSF, was killed in action on July 31. Private Espie enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war, and had been over 18 months in France.

Wigtownshire Free Press (15/11/1917: Mr and Mrs Caughie, Knocknain, Leswalt, have received official intimation that their brother, Signaller John Craig, Australian Imperial Forces, died from wounds received in action in France on October 17. Signaller Craig was a native of Leswalt, and about ten years ago emigrated to Australia. When the call for men came, he sold his farm, joined the Forces, and came to this country last year.

Wigtownshire Free Press (17/2/1916): Official intimation has been received from the War Office that Corporal W Dorans has been missing since 13th November 1914 and that the Army Council has been regrettfully constrained to conclude that he is dead. Corporal Dorans was a Reservist at the outbreak of war, and was emplyed on the farm at Craigenholly, Glenluce.

Note: Also named on Glenluce War Memorial.
