WOODSIDE U.F. CHURCH WAR MEMORIAL. UNVEILING CEREMONY. A special service was held Hilton United Free Church, Woodside, Aberdeen, last night, when memorial the men connected with the church who fell in the war was unveiled. It is a tablet polished black granite, with the names of the men inscribed in gold letters, and placed in tiho vestibule of the church facing the main entrance. The unveiling was performed by the Rev. J. Adams, M.C., D.S.0., West United Free Church. Mr Adams was privileged to serve with the Army, and to understand the type of men whom they missed that night. The men they sent were the stock of men who Bannockburn turned back the foe. No fewer than 900,000 men British blood laid down their lives for their friends in the great war, and that nailed the lie to the counter that we were a decadent people. These men and the women who went to serve were true friends of freedom. was for friendship tihat they gave themselves, and it was because of that that they, as a congregation, would keep their names in everlasting remembrance. The most wonderful thing in the world was friendship. They had accomplished their part to save the world, and were speaking to them, challenging them be worthy of tiho great gift they made for love's sake. Mr Adams, accompanied by office-bearers of the church and the relatives of those who fell in the war, proceeded to the vestibule and unveiled the memorial. He then gave dedicatory prayer, and the "Last Post"- was sounded by Bugler Melville. John A. Pevie the "Dead March" in Saul the organ. The inscription on the tablet is follows:— "To the 'glory of God and memory those connected with this church who fell in the great war." The names inscribed on the panel are: John Adams. Joseph Pirie. Peter Thomson Craig, John Duff, George Gordon, John England Grubb. James Smith Hastings, James Hay, John Taylor Hendry, Alexander Alexander Leith, Alexander M'Donald. William M'Donald, William Masterton M'lntosh, Angus M'Pherson, John Chalmers Middler, Charles Innes Morgan, Alexander Rae Morrison, James Warrack Morrison, James Tosh Phillips.
