(Glasgow Herald 14th May 1915)
"Dr Fraser Sinclair, Glencraig, Fife, has received official intimation of the death of his brother, Private William J. Sinclair, who was killed in action on April 23. He was 26 years of age, a son of Dr G.I. Sinclair, Culross, and a grandsonof the late Rev. William Sinclair, U.F. Church, Kirkwall. He left a post in the Bank of Montreal when war broke out, and came over with the first Canadian Contingent."

The following details have been submitted by a relative:

" I can confirm that he was Private 38549 John Madden, 16th Battalion,Royal Scots Regiment who was killed in action in France on 9th April 1917 aged just twenty years."

No details have been submitted to ascertain what the connection to Culross was.
