There is a memorial to a crashed WW2 pilot near to Clennoch Bothy, near Carsphairn. Never been able to find it myself, but is worth remembering. |

Thanks for the tip, I know of 2 memorials near Carsphairn, one to a US bomber crash in 1951 (I will be posting shortly) and one to the 'Blue Peter' spitfire on the back of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn (it will be an estimated 3 hours to get to that one to photograph it once I confirm its location). Not exactly sure where Clennoch Bothy is - could this be one of the above or is it a separate memorial?

The Blue Peter Memorial is the one near to Clennoch Bothy. Clennoch lies between Cairnsmore of Cairsphairn and Windy Standard. I remember seeing about the Blue Peter Memorial on Blue Peter, and thence read about it in the bothy book at Clennoch. It is in a fantastic place. To get to it would be best to walk in along the track from Moorbrook, happy to email you a scan of map if you would like. |
