killed in action in France - 25th.Sept.1915 - aged 22 years
Memorial: LOOS MEMORIAL Panel Reference: Panel 78 to 83
Additional Information: Son of the late John Carmichael
Andrew Carmichael was born in Dunfermline in 1893.
Unknown why he is linked to Auchinleck
apart from the fact that he’s listed on the Auchinleck
Roll of Honour which was printed in the Cumnock Chronicle
on the 19th.February,1915,
so he must’ve had some connection with Auchinleck at that time.
(alongside Pte. A.McFarlane from the same regiment!)

Memorial: THIEPVAL MEMORIAL Panel Reference: Pier and Face 3 C.
A son of Matthew & Margaret Dale of Main Street, Auchinleck,
and husband of Margaret Dale of Merlin Place, Auchinleck.
Private John Dale is also remembered on the family gravestone
in Auchinleck kirkyard. |

Born in Scotland.
Wilson Dunlop was born in Auchinleck in 1897.
He moved to Australia with his family in 1912. |

According to the 1911 census for Auchinleck, Robert Graham was a 'byreman' living and working at Dalsalloch Farm, Auchinleck,
while the rest of his family were living at Railway Cottages,
Coal Road, Auchinleck.

and moved to Auchinleck in 1915 to work as a charge-hand
in the Co-operative Society stables, looking after 6 horses.
He joined up in June,1917.

Harry Jones was born in England, around 1873.
He appears in the census for Auchinleck in 1901,
and in 1903 he married Maggie Jamieson in Auchinleck.
In the 1911 census for Auchinleck, Harry is living in
Highhouse Rows, with his wife and 4 children, and
Harry is working at Highhouse Pit.
