Hi Geoff.
Iain Anderson, CWGC's Scottish Supervisor will no doubt have visited Dunoon and taken notes on the condition of the stones, but when this will have been, I have no idea.
There's probably a list a mile long of stones needing maintenance up and down the country!

A couple of thoughts - you can see why granite grave markers are common in Scotland rather than Portland stone,
and co-incidentally this line is on an item on the CWGC web site
"In Scotland alone, the CWGC cares for more than 20,000 graves and memorials in more than 12,000 locations."
http://www.cwgc.org/news-events/news/2017/5/gardening-scotland.aspx
Actually, do those numbers make sense _________________ Ken |

How many Churchyards, Cemeteries, Private Burying Grounds are there scattered here there and everywhere though?
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest that there are that many burial locations/sites (obviously every 'location/site' listed separately, not grouping them all as a single Parish place of burial).
I could probably list a few hundred in my neck of the woods and that's just a small part of the country. I wouldn't like to even hazard a guess as to how many are on the islands!
