ANDREW MUIR.

Andrew Muir age 28 Lieutenant: 7th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)
Andrew was the organist at Milngavie and Baldernock Free Church. (Dumfries and Galloway Standard 27/11/1915 p.7)
Born 1887 in Dumfries.
Twin Son of John and Mary Muir of Chrystal Place, Dumfries.
(The family grave is in St Michael's Cemetery, Dumfries)

Killed in Action 16 November 1915.
Commonwealth War Grave Pink Farm Cemetery, Helles, Gallipoli, Turkey.
Also named on the Dumfries War Memorial, the Dumfries Academy Memorial and on the St George's Church memorial in Dumfries.

An update:
Andrew was a teacher in Glasgow, latterly at Hutchesons' Boys Grammer School where he is named on the school memorial. He had started teacher training in 1906 and is named on the Glasgow Training College memorial in the Jordanhill College of Education. At the outbreak of war he was studying for an M.A. at Glasgow University and he is named on the Roll of Honour.
