Would someone who was a Railway Clerk at the (North British Railway) Goods' Terminus at Kinning Park (Glasgow) be listed on the North British Railway Co's Memorial at Waverley Station? I can't see him amongst the names there or on the NB Railway Database.
The name is Donald McLellan (Argylls) of Balmore and is listed on Baldernock Memorial.

Possibly, but not guaranteed. Were they still working there when they enlisted?
I have at least two men who were working for the British Linen Bank - they were not permitted by the bank to take a leave of absence to enlist, so they resigned in order to join up. For that reason their names are not on the war memorial. Sad that for that reason they were omitted, but that's what happened. |

Banchory West Church has one brother named while the other lifted his lines to go and work away from the area so he is not remembered in the church! _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire.

Thanks for the replies Anne & David.
I have no other proof that he was still there apart from a clipping from the Kirkintilloch Gazette which states "Prior to joining up he was employed in the office of the North British Railway Company at the Goods’ Terminus, Kinning Park"

Anne - look here ( but only if you are really bored)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_Union_Line
There is a reference to the Kinning Park Goods Station in "Main Section South" but as to which company actually ran it???????
Maybe he was not a NBR man????????? _________________ Ken |

Thanks for the link Ken.
I know newspaper articles aren't particularly reliable, so you're right, he may not have worked for NBR.
I've looked at some of the other railway memorials but no sign of his name on any of them.
