The Appendices of the book, War History of the 5th Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers by GF Scott Elliot, published 1928, includes a list of officers who served in the Battalion in WW1. This includes "Major (formerly Captain and Adjutant) Thomas William Youngson. Adjutant to the Battalion before the war. Went out with them to Gallipoli, where he was "recommended for his hard work and excellent arrangements throughout". Invalided (dysentry). He joined the 1st Battalion KOSB in 1897. Saw service in South Africa; Queen's Medal (3 Clasps) and King's Medal (2 Clasps). After the war was Brigade-Major in Egypt and died at Port Said in 1922, aged 46 years. Memorial tablet in the Wish Church, Aberdeen. He was a son of Major Youngson of Southfields, near Cults, Aberdeenshire, and succeeded to this property. He father commanded the City of Aberdeen Artillery for nineteen years."

Just raised this as a memorial that doesn't seem to have been captured on the forum. I've tried Internet search for Wish Church without success. Good hunting for anyone in the North East (it's a bit far from here in Wigtownshire!) Apparently he is interred at Allenvale Cemetery, Aberdeen.

There is a West Church in Cults.
There is the Mither Kirk, Kirk of St Nicholas Uniting in Aberdeen which has East & West St Nicholas so could be in there.

Perhaps "West" was misinterpreted by the author as "Wish". Sounds like it could be the right area.
