The memorial board hangs within the assembly hall at the new High School building, Blairgowrie.

It would have originally been located in the old building, presently the Hill Primary School.

Some detail for the 'extras';

Name: CHRISTIE, JOHN
Initials: J
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Royal Scots
Unit Text: 1st/9th Bn.
Age: 35
Date of Death: 01/08/1918
Service No: 301765
Additional information: Son of John Christie, of Blairgowrie, Perthshire; husband of Johan Christie, of 45, Albion Rd., Leith, Edinburgh.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: I. E. 8.
Cemetery: RAPERIE BRITISH CEMETERY, VILLEMONTOIRE

BLAIRGOWRIE ADVERTISER: 07.09.18

Pte. John Christie, Royal Scots, fourth son of Mr John Christie, manager “Advertiser” Office, was killed in action on 1st August. From his wounds death was supposed to have been instantaneous. Pte. Christie served his apprenticeship as an ironmonger with the late Mr W. Moncur, Allan Street, and had been, before enlisting, about three years ago, engaged with a firm in Leith, where his widow and three children reside. To them, as also deceased’s parents, much sympathy has gone out.

* John Christie not being included on the monument in the Wellmeadow really surprised me, especially as his father was manager in the Blairgowrie Advertiser.

Mr and Mrs Johnston, Beechhill House, Coupar Angus, have received the sad intelligence that their only son, Pvt. Harkham Johnston, Black Watch, had died of wounds sustained in the recent fighting. It appears that Pvt. Johnston, whose excellent shooting abilities had been recognised with the result that he was placed on sniping duty, was severely hit in the leg. He lay for some considerable time, until removed to a dressing station, where amputation was performed. He seemed to be progressing favourably, and was able to dictate a letter home. This finished, he suddenly collapsed and died. Prior to enlisting he was engaged in an architect’s office in Dundee, and for a brief period acted as organist of St Anne’s Church, Coupar Angus

Lance-Corporal Tom Seaton, Black Watch, son of Mrs Seaton, Birkenbush, Forfar, and formerly of Glenballoch, has met his death in battle. He was 21 years of age, and assisted in the work of his mother’s farm. He was a member of the Fife & Forfar Yeomanry, and was called out for military duty at the general mobilisation. On account of his youth he was unable to accompany his regiment to the East, and subsequently he was drafted into the Black Watch, with which unit he had served in France for two years. During that period he came through much fighting without sustaining so much as a scratch. This is the second War bereavement sustained by Mrs Seaton, her son James, who was also in the Black Watch, having been killed in December 1916.
