There is one Phillip Smyth (died 1917) on scotlandspeople Service Returns.

The only name that fits is
Phillip Smyth
Lance Corporal Service No: 31391 Age: 21
Date of Death: 25/09/1917
Regiment/Service: Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) 100th Coy.
Panel Reference: Panel 154 to 159 and 163A.
Memorial: TYNE COT MEMORIAL
Additional Information: Son of Patrick and Annie Smyth.

Soldiers effects has mother Annie Gibson. Sister Nellie and Edward Gibson.
His service record exists on Ancestry but makes no reference to Barrhead or indeed to Scotland - so why is he on the service returns???????

Hi Anne

This one has me at a lose end, I have nothing on him re Cowan Park or any of the local area's, All I have is his name on the memorial, I do hope it is not a error or such that he is listed there.
