Quote:
Well worth looking at though the DC does not confirm her status. She could
have been QAIMNS, a VAD or a civilian nurse (the latter unlikely).

Her qualification as a VAD would depend on where she was working and the DC is not clear where she worked - only where she died so not necessarily the same place. VADs only qualify if they were contracted to the War Office/Admiralty and this can be ascertained from their place of work ('War Hospital' does not necessarily denote a military run hospital).

If she worked at Stobhill as a VAD, she would qualify as it was a War Office establishment for malarial and VD cases. If she was QAIMNS, she would qualify. We need her service record in either case so I will see what can be found.

I have her service record now and it shows she was TFNS (not QAIMNS) when she died. I will get her DC and she will go forward.

Fingers crossed!

John
