Hi folks
Looking for a wee bit of help here, I have a soldier Samuel Rae commemorated on the Barrhead Civic memorial, Death notices in the Barrhead news.
I Cant find him on military records, CWGC, SNWM, STDGW or Deaths on SCOTLANDSPEOPLE.

I have the following info.

Rank Private
Name Samuel Rae
Unit Gordon Highlanders
Batt 1/7th Battalion
Cause of death Died of wounds
Age 24
Place of death France
Was wounded the year before, after recovery returned to France in July.
Date of death 19th Sept 1917,
Family of 55 cross Arthurlie street Barrhead
Prior to joining was employed by South Arthurlie Print works(Barrhead)
The 1918 Census gives Father Samuel (Moulder), Mother Catherine, And absent voter Solider brother Andrew Rae.

I can not find a death of a Samuel Rae on this date, I can find a Samuel Raeside from Clydebank , same regiment same cause of death same age 24years. Please can anyone help find a Barrhead connection to this?

Cheers Matt

Don't worry too much about the info I do try to give the dates when it was in the paper. I then put it into the database I have.
