Pt Thomas Blyth Peebles was in 16th Highland Light Infantry and was killed in France 18 Nov 1916. His memorial plaque - dead man's penny - has been found in the Glenrothes area and is now in possession of the Glenrothes Area Heritage Centre. They are trying to trace any relations. Pt Peebles name appears on the Kirkcaldy war memorial. He was one of four brothers one of whom Robert Speed Peebles lived in Glenrothes until 1975 when he died.

If anyone as any further information could they get in touch with the Heritage Centre.

Might be useful to include the CWGC entry:

PEEBLES, T B [Thomas Blyth]
Rank: Private
Service No: 43009
Date of Death: 18/11/1916
Age: 22
Regiment/Service: Highland Light Infantry 16th Bn.
Grave Reference: F. 5.
Cemetery: NEW MUNICH TRENCH BRITISH CEMETERY, BEAUMONT-HAMEL

Additional Information:
Son of Rober Griev Peebles and Barbara Bisset Peebles, of 69, Rosslyn St., Gallatown, Kirkcaldy; husband of Catherine Cowie (formerly Peebles), of 121, Overton Rd., Pathhead, Kirkcaldy.

Catherine (Mitchelson) Peebles remarried in 1919 in Dysart to John Mercer Cowie.

This search could get a bit confusing as it looks like Catherine married Thomas Blyth Peebles in 1913 in Glencoe and Ballachulish, David Jackson Bell in 1917 in Kirkcaldy and Abbotshall and John Mercer Cowie in 1919.

There are three possible Peebles children born in Dysart 1913 to 1916. A Robert Grieves Peebles in 1914 (named for his grandfather?) and two daughters (?), Davina in 1913 and Mary R Veitch 1916.
