On the WW2 panel is MALLIA, ALFRED EDWARD PETER

All the other folks on the CWGC database with this family name were on or were connected to Malta.

Mary Emily PAULL married in 1939 in Banchory. She re-married in 1946 in Banchory to John L. Gardener-Brown.

I wonder if this is the same man:
ROYAL MALTA ARTILLERY. Alfred Edward Pietro Paolo Antonio Domenico Mallia to be 2nd Lt. 12th Nov. 1928.

and I wonder if this was his dad:

Lt.-Col. Mallia Dies On Service Lt.-Col. A. E. (Peter) Mallia, R.A.0.C., has died as the result of a traffic accident while on active service in North Africa. His wife, formerly Miss Mary Emily Paull, is the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs James George Paull, Dalvenie. Banchory. There is one son. Born in Malta in 1909, he held a commission in the Royal Malta Artillery, and was seconded to the R.A.O.C. in 1938. A year later he was promoted captain. He saw service in France, and came tnrough the Dunkirk evacuation. His promotion as lieut-colonel came in August. 1942. He went to North Africa in October, 1943, and held special training appointment for which he was well fitted with his knowledge of languages.
