On the Dundee Training College memorial is Malcolm Macivor,RNVR. I cannot trace him on SNWM or CWGC definitively. and there is no information in any local papers.He is either Malcolm Maciver

Hugh - a bit of a negative response (so far) but the three men you suggest were all from Stornoway. I think the first two were lost on the infamous sinking of the Iolaire.

Stated is that he previously served 2 years on Merchant Vessels and died of pernicious anaemia at the British Hospital, Port Said, 29th January 1916.

His death register entry is indexed as Malcolm MacIVOR but appears to read MacIVER and his age is shown as 37, which aligns with his DoB of 20/12/1881, rather than the 35 on his gravestone.

Malcolm MacIver, Teacher and Seaman Royal Naval Reserve (single) died 1 January 1919 between 2 and 4 AM at sea near Holm Point, Stronoway (Usual Residence 28 Aignish, Stornoway) Age 37. Father Malocolm Maciver, Crofter Mother Catherine Maciver MS Finlayson (deceased)
Death Asphyxia due to immersion. Registered by brother Colin (?) Finlayson MacIver of 31 Harlaw Street, Port Dundas, Glasgow on 19 February 1919.

I have discovered that Malcom Mciver was a teacher at Wallace Hall Academy pre 1914. I cannot see a memorial or roll of honour or the school on the Forum.
Might the sleuths in that area see if they can track anything down please?
I am particularly keen to find a pic of him-perhaps either in the school magazine(if one exists) or the local newspaper?
He died on 1st January 1919 in the Iolaire tragedy.
The school I was at Closeburn in Dumfriesshire.

I have not been able to uncover a ROH for Wallace Hall but the person to ask would be Gladys Cuttle (Teddy) so I suggest you send her a PM.
