Hope this is the correct thread for this one. The November issue of The Countryman magazine includes an article about the now deserted village of Badbea in Caithness. It mentions one of the residents there as a John Sutherland, better known as John Badbea. It says: "John Badbea died in the village in 1864. In 1911 his son returned to Badbea from New Zealand and erected a fitting memorial to John and his brother Donald who was killed at Waterloo. It's a large cairn bulit on the side of and using the stones from John's old cottage."
So, anyone in the Caithness area may want to look up a Waterloo-related memorial. |

Thanks Ken, that was quick. Bit far for you and me to pop out to take a pic, I think! |
