This memorial is on the A96 between Keith and Banff. It is opposite the turning for the farmhouse at Meikle Canty.

I've just been looking through some of the other Moray war memorials and they seems to have replaced quite a few name panels on several memorials with modern panels. It looks like they may have used a local monumental mason to do the work.
It looks like the top part of this memorial for the Great War dead has been replaced fairly recently with the lions head from the original fountain retained in the modern masonry.

I was a bit curious about where this memorial was (it's on the A95 near Keith - not the A 96) and why there was a lack of names.
Typing "Grange, Keith" into the "Additional Information" box on the CWGC search gets you 14 names (all WW1) including 8 Gordons, 2 Seaforths, a New Zealander and a unit I'd never heard of before - Royal Army Medical Corps, Scottish Horse Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance. _________________ Ken |
