Francis Dunbar appears to be buried in Cowie (SS. Mary And Nathan) Churchyard.

No service record found. Death certificate lists him as a Private in the 2/7 Gordon Highlanders.

Soldiers Effects corroborates the date and place of death on both gravestone and death certificate.

I've not submitted one without a service record before - do we have enough evidence to put this forward for submission?

I have both documents saved down if anyone would like to see them.

David,

From the information you have stated plus the following;

ABERDEEN DAILY JOURNAL: 11.04.1916
STONEHAVEN
GORDON'S SUDDEN DEATH

The death took place suddenly, at Westport, Cowie, Stonehaven, on Tuesday, of Private Francis J. Dunbar, of the 2/7th Gordon Highlanders. Deceased had obtained a short furlough in order to assist his father, Mr William Dunbar, on the farm at Westport, when he was taken seriously ill, and died as stated. Previous to joining the Gordons he was employed on his father's farm, and was about 22 years of age.

It would seem Frank Dunbar is an 'in service' death and should be good to go forward.

Mark

I was about to add Pte Dunbar's details to my 'non-comm' spreadsheet but I don't see him listed on either CWGC or IFTC?

Am I looking too quickly?

Thanks David.

I previously thought once a name had been accepted, it was added to the Book of remembrance right away.
