Downfield South is located on Harestane Road, off Strathmartine Road.It contains a WW1 plaque as well as the font from Mains Church with which it merged in 1994.The font has a plaque to the WW2 dead of Mains. There does not appear to be a memorial to WW2 for Downfield South.
Mains was converted to housing and the WW1 memorial window sold off.A picture of the window is contained in the Mains Hall along with a copy of the unveiling programme of 1922 which lists the war dead. The Hall is likely to be sold off and the pictures relocated to Downfield South in due course.

The Downfield South WW1 plaque states:

To the Glory of God and in Memory of

John P Anderson William G Lamb George B Roberts
Louis J Gouick David McRostie Forgan A Simond
William S Haggart David C Philip William D Wishart

Men of this congregation who gave their lives in
the Great War 1914-1918

Greater Love hath No Man than This

LOUIS JOHN GOUICK

GOUICK, L J
Rank: Lance Corporal
Service No: 8044
Date of Death: 07/08/1915
Regiment/Service: Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment)
Cemetery: DUNDEE WESTERN CEMETERY

Father Robert B Gouick, St. Peters Street, Dundee.
Louis was with the 2nd Battalion in India in 1911
His name is indexed as GONICK on the census and on SDGW, SNWM, Medal Card and on Soldiers effects - although in that case the correct name is also written in.

The 1st RWK landed at Le Havre on 15 August 1914 and Louis joined them on 23 August - so I'd guess he was a reservist. The 2nd Battalion were still in India.

There is only one other GOUICK on CWGC - also a Dundonian, [a cousin?]

GOUICK, JOHN ALEXANDER
Rank: Lieutenant
Date of Death: 15/04/1918
Age: 26
Regiment/Service: Canadian Field Artillery 1st Bde.
Cemetery: AUBIGNY COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION
Additional Information: Son of John and Lucy Gouick, of "Cragside," Wormit, Fife, Scotland. Native of Dundee, Scotland.
