Sgt. James Todd, K.O.S.B.

James Todd – age 24 – Sergeant (13702) 7th Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.
James was a gamekeeper at Parton House, Kirkcudbrightshire when he enlisted in August 1914. He landed with his battalion at Boulogne in July 1915. (Source: Medal Roll/Card and Dundee Courier 18/10/1915 p.5)
Born 1891 at Kirkurd, Peeblesshire. Son of John and Jane (Wilson) Todd of Rosemount of Callange, Ceres, Fife and of West Kirkland, Wigtownshire.
Died of wounds on 27 September 1915 and buried in Vieille-Chapelle New Military Cemetery, Lacouture, France.
Also named on the Parton Parish War Memorial.
The 7th KOSB lost about two-thirds of its strength and the 8th KOSB over one-third at the Battle of Loos, and the two Battalions were amalgamated in the spring of 1916.
