This memorial is on Roman Road, Hardgate, opposite the Antonine Sports Centre.

The memorial has four parts. There is a square cemented semi dressed stone base that is approximately 1.5m square by 60cmhigh. A square grey granite plinth about 30cm high lies on this base. This plinth has the WW2 dedication and names of WW2 servicemen on panels, on all 4 sides. A grey granite tapering ‘square’ block lies on top of the plinth. This contains the WW1 dedication and names of servicemen on panels, on all 4 sides. This block is about 1m high. Above the main block is a Celtic Cross. The cross is about 2m high. The cross is grey granite with a sword decoration on the front of the cross. The sword points downwards with the handle lying along the top arm of the cross and the guards along the left and right arms of the cross. The blade extends down the shaft of the cross. The cross has a wheel.

The memorial is set into a sloping garden with mature shrubs and heathers

Note 1. ‘C’ and ‘G’ are very similar on the inscription of names, so I may have made an error in transcribing ‘C’s and ‘G’s
Note 2. I assume that the names on the main block are from WW1 and on the plinth are from WW2

The memorial was erected by Glasgow monumental sculptors Messrs. Scott Rae. The entry in their Daybook reads:
'Order No. 5761, Duntocher, Grey Cross, Erected June 1921, Day Book 327'

According to the transcription by Dunbartonshire Council of the memorial there is a D. Brogan listed, but it appears to be a G. Brogan.
However there is a D. Brogan of the Enniskillin Fusiliers who would fit. There is only one G. Brogan on CWGC and he's in a English regiment. So why would the transcription but wrong, but correct?

(Glasgow Herald 19th March 1915)
"Mrs Robert Dogran, 45 William Street, Duntocher, has received word of the death in action of her brother, Private Daniel Brogan, 2nd Battalion Inniskilling Fusiliers. Brogan was working in the shipyard of messrs John Brown and Co. (Limited) when called up as a reservist. He had seven years service with the colours and was 25 years of age. He was killed instantaneously while in the trenches."
