I don't know if anyone watched last Sunday's "Paul Merton's Secret Stations" on Channel 4. It was about request stops on Britain's railways and the first item this week was on Arisaig. Specifically Arisaig House which is now a small hotel but was the training facility for SOE during WW2. During his visit he looked at a memorial in the house to those who served in SOE.

It looked like it was within the house, though, hanging on the wall as far as I could see.

I have a booklet all about the SOE in the Arisaig area and I think it might be the plaques at Traigh House. They're on the outside of the building encased in what looks like an oak framed glazed frame.

The transcription of them reads:

Traigh House

Special Forces from the Army of Czechoslovakia
received training here and at Camusdarach House
and Garra Mor 1941 - 1943
Prior to operations in their Homeland
against the German Nazi invaders.

This plaque was unveiled on 9th June 2002
by Major-general Antonin Petrak MBE, MC,
in the presence of Major EH van Maurik OBE
and Captain DTH Nicholson MBE
all of whom were directly involved here in the training between 1942 and 43

I didn't have a chance to go and see this on my flying visit to Arisaig - maybe next time!

Arisaig House is quite an impressive building, see: http://arisaighouse.co.uk/

It was requisitioned 1st November 1940 for use by the SOE and was under the command of Major J. W. Munn and Lt-Col. A. D. Balden. It was used for all aspects of training.

Traigh House is 2 miles north of Arisaig and was requisitioned by the SOE on 22nd June 1941 and used to both accommodate and train Czech personnel.
