This is a fantastic book, of which I have only heard of one copy being in existance. If you see a copy for sale, buy it.

It was written/compiled in 1911 and catalogues as many Boer War memorials in Britain as could be found. Civic, Regimental, Churches, Schools, you name it, it's in here. Loads of photographs, many transcriptions. Annoyingly it only lists the officers commemorated on many memorials (rank and file obviously not worth mentioning in those days!)

If you want to see it, go visit the National Library of Scotland. Here's the details from their catalogue. Please don't steal it. I may have most of the Scottish information copied, but I'd still like to view it from time to time.

Do you have a list of Scottish Boer War memorials from this book so we can compare them against our lists? We've got a good few posted already and it would be good to see if we're missing any, or if any have gone missing in the hundred or so years.

I photocopied or transcribed most of the Scottish memorials in addition to any English or foreign memorial that had a Scottish connection. I had planned to get scanned some of the ones we don't have listed at the moment.

I don't know if there's any which are subsequently "missing" but it's worth me digging out what I have to find out. I'll add it to the ever-growing pile of "things to do"......
