Hugh Neil is commemorated on both Wigtown and Stranraer War Memorials but I have been unable to find him on the CWGC site. Born 18 Aug 1886 he joined the Army Service Corps (Service number 170788) but was discharged in 12 September 1917 with tubercolosis. His discharge papers stated that this was not the result of but aggravated by ordinary military service. He died on 27 December 1917 at the family home in Stranraer and is buried at Sheuchan Cemetery, Stranraer.

Views welcome on whether this is a non-commemoration or not.

Mike

Before enlisting he worked at Bladnoch Creamery. His name appears on the Scottish Co-op Roll of Honour noted "Died after Discharge".

This one seems to have been submitted but it appears he was never added to the CWGC.

Hi David, I've been in contact with the IFTC folk and we have re-activated this case yesterday. I think it probably just slipped through the cracks. Thanks to Ken Morrison for prompting me and offering advice.

Mike is sunning himself in some exotic location (possibly Sheffield) but has e-mailed me that Hugh Neil has been added to the CWGC Register today.
