An impressive memorial which is now showing its age.





Note the pelican and offspring symbolism here.

"Robert Campbell, a Reservist, a native of Muirkirk, Ayrshire, was resident at Trannent, joined the 1st Bat. Black Watch on August 5th, and after going to France went missing during an engagement. No more was heard about him till it was notified officially that he was a prisoner of war in Germany. Yesterday notification was received from the War Office to the effect that he had died during his interment as a prisoner of war in Germany. He leaves a widow and child."
