The Barrhead News reported:- Killed in Action 27th Sept 1915, Previously reported missing Pte James Coulter Royal Scots, Formally of 9 George street Barrhead, "RIP" inserted by his Grand mother Mrs McCarthy 9 George Street.

He is commemorated on the Barrhead Memorial.
