Just in case anyone is interested . . . .
I know some of the people on here are also membes of the Great War Forum - so if you missed the messages on the Glasgow Pals thread -
Some lads and lassies (regular and non-regular posters on the Great War Forum) are having a get-together tomorrow evening, Wednesday 24th July, in the Oran Mor, Gt. Western Road, Glasgow at 7.30. The Oran Mor is the converted church diagonally opposite the Botanic Gardens.

I'll try and get there as well. What's the best Underground station to go to from Queen Street / Buchanan Street?
Cheers

Hillhead Subway Station I think is the nearest.
When you come out the station, turn up towards Botanic Gardens, then right into Great Western Road. You can't miss it it's a big converted church.
Have a wee look at the Pals section and you'll see the Glasgow Meet thread on the GWF - you'll see who's going and a wee bit about Oran Mor.

Well it was great to meet all of you in the Óran Mór.
I hope we can do it again next year, when I come up again.
I had some great luck at the NAS in Edinburgh.
I found two Will's for my g grandfathers brothers, a letter one had wrote to his sister leaving everything to her, in 1915 during the war.He died six months later.
It was very sad to read.
And another will the other brother left to his sweetheart. He was killed within months too. |
